Many facets of Brent's life have emerged in his fine art work upon moving to Austin Texas six years ago. His early pieces often reflected a love for impressionism. Energetic and confident brush strokes form romantic nature scenes and majestic paths. His later works are introspective, revealing a graphic design career steeped in computers and multitasking. The work explores texture, complex layering, and spontaneity. His latest pieces have become surreal and whimsical, relying on less reference. This website reflects the evolution of one unique Austin painter, his style, and interests.

Brent Founded Art Depot.com in 2001, and although he had created one of the first collaborative online art communities, the dot com crash helped him realize how much he had to learn about becoming an entrepreneur. After art directing in several multimedia agencies, he founded Freethink Studios in 2005 and enjoyed instant success running his own interactive design agency, which allowed him to do business on his own terms. Brent later cofounded BidModo.com, an online business services startup (2009). He recently launched HootLoot.org, a website for students to create academic goals and raise money by fulfilling them. These entrepreneurial projects have been a perfect marriage of form and function, helping Brent explore the art of business and team collaboration.

The design sensibilities Brent's attained from "playing in the band" during his design career, have emboldened and complimented his journey as a fine artist. He believes that sometimes we must live in the "norm" to understand how to best deviate from it. Today, Brent is emerging as an award winning designer and a seasoned artist who's passionate about expressing his authentic self through art. Brent's work reflects places and experiences in his life.

He resonates with the words of the great Picaso who once said "I've spent 80 years learning to paint like a child again." Whether it's exercise, laughter, meditation, or painting, we all yearn to find our way back to that part of us that knows without thinking.
