ABOUT THE ARTIST

COLORADO IMPRESSIONIST - Brent Hollingsead

As an impressionist artist based in Colorado, my work explores heavy textures, layering, abstraction, and spontaneity. From her serenity to her wrath, dramatic lighting and expressions of nature inspire my creations. Geometric mysteries are often collaged underneath rich layers of painterly strokes, where experimentation and rhythmic patterns emerge.  I’m interested in exploring a process that dances between intention and chaos; a meditation that explores what it is to be human through my journey. My hope is to reveal the connective force that underlies all things, inspiring others to find presence in nature and to find their own experience within the movement and flow of creativity.

Nature and Community as Teaching Inspiration

From the tender years of my youth, I harbored a dream to become an art teacher one day. Yet, my expertise was confined to the technical realm of lines, shapes, and colors, with real life experience a distant shore. As the years unfurled—marked by a journey through the rigors of a design career and the joys and challenges of raising children—I finally found my artistic voice and vision. Art, for me, has always been a meditative practice, a somatic experience resonating with the pulse of the world, a thread weaving through the tapestry of life's complexities. I have found solice and inspiration by studying nature, while being submerged in it. My goal is to share those overarching themes with my fellow artists in a non-directive way, letting those layers to gently surface as students explore their own creativity.
